As Head of Key Account Management, I have the privilege of working closely with our public sector partners across Scotland - understanding your unique challenges, priorities, and ambitions. And at the heart of what we do is a simple but important principle; we’re here to help.

Our Account Management team exists to ensure that you get the most value from our services, not just through transactions but through trusted relationships. Whether it’s helping you identify water savings to reduce costs and meet your sustainability goals, tailoring solutions to fit your organisation’s specific needs, or simply being on hand for advice and support,

Stephen S - PSS guest editor-1

we’re committed to being proactive, supportive, and dependable. We know that delivering public services comes with ever-evolving demands and, when it comes to water, we’re here to make it easier for you to meet them.

In this edition, you’ll find updates and insights from across our business – including how we helped NHS Lanarkshire improve their emergency water plans, an update on record savings made for PSS customers in 2024/25 and the results of our first Impact Report.

If you ever have a question, an idea, or even a challenge you need support with, please get in touch. Your Account Manager is always just a call or email away – or use our online webchat to get in touch with one of our dedicated case owners, instantly.

I hope you enjoy reading our latest newsletter.

NHS Lanarkshire | Improving emergency planning and resilience

Untitled-1-2

Following a review of the existing water infrastructure at NHS Lanarkshire, we identified a need to update the health board’s existing emergency water plans and alternate water delivery methods, as well as the supporting water network arrangements.

In addition, this was an opportunity to support NHS Lanarkshire to review key organisational roles and responsibilities during water emergencies; to reinforce collaborative working among key stakeholders; and to create confidence in the effective management of water risks with enhanced resilience for water outages.

Record savings for Scotland’s Public Sector

We’re delighted to have saved over £3million in water costs for our Public Sector Scotland customers over the last financial year.

Jo Dow, Chief Executive of Business Stream, said: “We’re committed to working in partnership with Scotland’s public sector to deliver long-term, sustainable savings. By providing value-added services with a key focus on water efficiency, we’re continuing to drive down costs and supporting the sector to achieve their environmental targets.”

Our focus on value-added services has helped public sector bodies embrace a more environmentally conscious approach to resource use. Through a combination of smart monitoring, tailored water efficiency planning and a rapid response to identify and repair leaks, in the past year we’ve supported reductions in energy consumption equating to more than 530 tonnes of CO₂e.

Access to your sites | Meter reading required

It's important that we're able to take a meter reading at each of your sites to ensure we can provide accurate billing.

We're aware of a number of PSS sites where our meter reading partners are unable to access the premises and/or the water meter therefore, the meter has been unread for a significant period of time. This is particularly common with vacant sites.

It's really important that we can obtain a meter reading for every site, especially ahead of the Scottish Water smart meter roll-out and we'd appreciate your help. To allow us to obtain a meter reading, please:

      • ensure the contact details we hold for your sites are up to date so we can get in touch with the relevant person to gain access, and/or
      • submit your own meter reading if you can safetly gain access to any meters which have not been read for some time.

You can update your details and submit a reading on My Business Stream or by contacting your Account Manager directly, who will be happy to help.
